Since it's grand opening in 1982, Celtic Manor has maintained it's reputation as one of the most glamorous sporting estates throughout the UK. Located in the South East of Wales, Celtic Manor hosts three world class golf courses, four hotels, six modern restaurants and two luxury spas.
In 2010, Celtic Manor was host to the Ryder Cup, which saw our very own Colin Montgomerie captain Europe to a victory over Corey Pavin's US team. First opened in 2007, the 2010 Course was purely built to host the Ryder Cup in 2010. When building a golf course specifically for the most sought out team prize in golf, it's always going to be challenging. Measuring a massive 7493 yards off the back tees, the 2010 course is no doubt the most difficult of the three at Celtic Manor. The 2010 requires the golfer to play with caution, if you're feeling brave and you think you can handle the long water hazards, make sure you go a club or two up.
Designed by our legendary ambassador Colin Montgomerie, The Montgomerie course offers a parkland style with a hint of links with extensive pot bunkers. Offering spectacular scenery, the iconic 3rd is regarded as one of the best holes throughout the UK. A long tree-lined par 5 with an elevation change for your approach to the green, driver and a low iron/wood required if you want to get anywhere near the green in two.
Publicly opened in 1995, the Roman Road course has hosted countless European & Senior Tour events throughout the years. Measuring at 6406 yards, the Roman Road offers some of the most spectacular views Celtic Manor has to offer, reaching as far as Devon.
Celtic Manor has a variety of different on-site activities perfect for kids and adults which separates the experience from anything else in the country. Whether that be scaling the trees for the nerve-racking forest jump, smashing aces on the tennis courts, hitting bullseyes at the archery boss or sinking putts at the adventure golf, there's something for everyone.
A short walk from the resort, the Coldra Court Hotel is the perfect place to relax after a day on the golf course. The spacious bedrooms offer a modern interior all equipped with an en-suite bathroom and flat screen TV’s. If you’re feeling exhausted after your round be sure to check out the Springs Health Club where you can take a dip in the on-site swimming pool or if you’re an individual without an off button, go and pump some iron in gym.
Coldra Court certainly understands there is no better way to treat yourself after eventful day than a lovely meal – The Rib Smokehouse & Grill offers them in abundance. Whether it’s a tender lamp rump, the succulent roasted salmon fillet or the juicy plant-based burger, it can fulfil and satisfy everyone’s needs.
