The American has become one of the most consistent players at top, but who is Xander Schauffele’s caddie?

A multiple Ryder Cup star for Team USA, Schauffele has put together quite the CV since turning pro in 2015.

It came after a promising amateur career, making it no surprise to see the California-born man rack up over a dozen PGA Tour wins since.

Despite being yet to make his breakthrough in major championships, it appears to be a matter of time before Schauffele gets over the line.

And, it would likely be alongside his current caddie, as that man has been one constant throughout his rise to the top.

The man in charge of Schauffele’s bag is Austin Kaiser. The pair have worked together for several years and their relationship stretches back more than a decade.

They were part of the same college golf team at San Diego State University, but while Schauffele carved out a playing career, Kaiser opted to go down the route of caddying.

On several occasions Kaiser has spoken about the “emotional attachment” he feels to Schauffele, insisting he would not caddy for any other player – even if the greatest of all time came calling.

“We have a perfect balance of professionalism and friendship,” he told the San Diego Tribune.

“I told him many times, I don’t think I’d work for anyone else.

“If Xander fired me and Tiger or any of those guys came up to me, I wouldn’t caddie for anybody else because I don’t have that emotional attachment.

“It’s like being drafted by your favourite team growing up. You can’t get that with anyone else. I think I have the best job in the world.”

Kaiser has been key to Schauffele’s series of victories, including the 2022 Genesis Scottish Open at the Renaissance Club.

He also helped Schauffele win a gold medal at Olympic Games in Tokyo and his player rewarded him with a special custom-made Olympic ring.

Meanwhile, Kaiser was by Schauffele’s side as he played a key role in the US regaining the Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits in 2021 and remained on the bag for the 2023 Ryder Cup at the Marco Simone Golf Club outside Rome.
